I know it's not really what the site's known for, but shit, I enjoy crappy pop music (almost) as much as your local 16 year old cheerleader. Thought Katy name-checks Radiohead in one of her tracks, nobody is going to ever accuse her of overly grand musical ambitions. She does what she sets out to do pretty well though. No longer the Avril Lavigne sound-alike that she was on 2008's One of the Boys,  Katy Perry produced two of the most feel good pop songs of 2010 - and all the way through 2011 and into 2012 - (I think they're still on the radio to this day, right??) with the stellar "Last Friday Night" and "Firework." Bottom line, Katy Perry makes music that's decent sober but really good after about a dozen or so.
